We are working on finishing up the first section of new trails. We'll be out working on the new trail from Thursday, May 29th till Saturday May 31st.
On Thursday we plan to haul in blocks and harden a short, steep section of trail.
Friday we need to being hauling in and installing three culverts and continue with the necessary brushing out of the last third of this section.
On Saturday we plan to be hauling in rock and gravel to the sections of trail that need it. Of course the JCTRA 6x6's will do most of the hauling, but we will need lots of volunteers to spread rock, do some of the smaller shovel work that the machines can't do, and continue with the brushing and other tasks as necessary.
We have approximately 25 miles of ATV width and 10 miles of single-track trail to build over the next several years and volunteer help is crucial to making this happen. We'll be meeting at the Jones Creek staging area Thursday thru Saturday mornings between 8:30 and 9:00 AM, departing the staging area at 9:00 to go to the job site. The work day will end around 4:00-5:00 PM however no one is obligated to stay any longer than they wish.
If you need to arrive later, or are only available on Thursday or Friday, please email me in advance at mike.ames@jctra.org so arrangements can be made to get you where you need to go.
Please bring work gloves, water, lunch, and come dressed for the weather. An ATV or dirt bike is not required, but you are welcome to bring one for transportation. In this case the job site is within walking distance from a road that you will be able to drive to.
JCTRA and/or the DNR will supply all necessary tools although you are welcome to bring your favorite shovel or rake if you like. Please do not bring personal chainsaws or power tools.
All volunteers will receive a free $10 Rocky Mountain ATV/MC gift card for each day you participate in the work party donated by Rocky Mountain ATV's Racegas program. This work party is open to the public and will qualify as volunteer hours toward a free Discovery Pass.
For questions or more information email mike.ames@jctra.org We thank you for your patience and we look forward to seeing you on the trails ! ! !
